Maricel museum was built by the American Charles Deering (1852-1927) with the intention of emulating the Cau Ferrat. In this museum, his builder put their art collections. In 1921 Deering returned to his country, and the palace was abandoned. Many years later, in 1969, the building has regained its original function, and hosted an important collection of medieval art, donated by Dr. Pérez Rosales. This collection includes wall paintings from Romanesque style, Gothic paintings on wood and Renaissance altarpieces.
